The NEST provides young parents (aged 16 to 19 years old) and their babies with a safe place to stay and support for up to 18 months ( longer if necessary )
Our NEST program is designed to help young people who are late in pregnancy or with newborns, who are homeless or who are living in unsuitable conditions and are consequently at risk of losing custody of their child. To be eligible for the NEST the young person must be on an income, have the ability to catch public transport and attend appointments.
A Youth Worker will help support the young people to stabilise their life and to develop parenting, financial and independent living skills that will ensure the health and wellbeing of their own and that of their infant. The Youth Worker will also work with the young parent to address their current needs and to create a plan to secure future accommodation.
- Young people are expected to work towards their goals throughout their stay
- Young people will need to pay rent and their utility bills.
- Young people will respect staff and the property
- Young people will need to behave within the residential agreement which will be outlined prior to accommodation
